Leading up to a break......

I've really been pushing the kids, trying to get them to realize that we have no school this week, and then next Friday we start  on Spring Break. for  eleven days.

This will be the first real spring break I can remember in years. We have usually scheduled one into our yearly calendar, but snow days have always decimated our calendar. This year, however, the unusually mild weather has enabled us, at least so far, and I hope completely, to not have a single snow day! As I said, I can't ever remember that happening.

But now, just as we are making progress, we will get a huge interruption and I'm pretty sure it will be a tough slog to get them back into a productive mode.

But at least they are working now, and for that I am thankful, and hopeful....

absenteeism...

Lots going on in the game class, but games outside the class continue to impact it.

This week we had the opening of our new, ten million dollar Performing Arts Center, with an open house and a celebration of the arts with music and art, choral, drama and debate students participating throughout the day and into the evening.

Our boys and girls basketball teams both qualified for the downstate state tournament, with the requisite busloads of students heading towards Charleston. Unfortunately for both of the teams they lost in the first round, so  it was only a short trip for the students. Those who had planned to stay for the weekend, were of course disappointed, as were the teams and the community.

The usual "senioritis"has set in as well, making the participation of outgoing seniors iffy at best.

Ah, the perils of high school  academics, held captive to the vagaries of... just about everything!

On to the games.....

The teams are finishing their paper prototyping, and building their games, so it is an exciting time.

It is always fun to get to this part of the course. Their team wiki pages are getting populated and the blogs are ongoing, I think a couple of the game ideas are pretty neat. The actual building will however, tell the tale.

Short blog today, got grades to enter. P.O's to do and a printing press to fix....
